Contemporary Dental Implant Therapy: Taking it to the next level!

Advanced implant surface technologies are creating implants that can be utilized more rapidly and in many instances allows the immediate loading of a variety implant prostheses. The indications for immediate loading will be discussed for single teeth and multiple implant prostheses.

Stereolithography is revolutionizing implant surgery with a number of systems being used. The 3i Navigator drill system and Cone Beam CT generated guide systems will be demonstrated. In addition, virtual computer generated provisionals will be described for immediate load implant restorations.

At the end of the program, participants will have an improved understanding of the following:

  1. Indications for immediate implant placement.
  2. The role implant surfaces play in this treatment modality.
  3. 3-D computer tomography treatment planning and surgical guide fabrication.

Presenter: Dr. Barry Goldenberg,
Prosthodontist, St. Louis, Missouri

Predictable Provisionalization of Immediately Placed Single or Multiple Implants. Featuring the “Ankylos Dental Implant System” and Associated Restorative Techniques.

The immediate provisionalization of an anterior implant may be the most challenging and critical time during the restorative phase of treatment. Yet, many clinicians are content to place a provisional restoration (fixed or removable) without understanding the criteria for success. We will discuss how to determine the predictability of anterior implant restorations prior to beginning the implant treatment.

Our goal is to provide the most natural looking restoration for the patient. It is important to be familiar with treatment planning concepts based on the implant and abutment design in order to achieve optimal results.

The Ankylos implant system has a unique conical connection with a 20 year clinical history. Clinical examples will be given for all types of restorative options to enhance the ultimate satisfaction of the patient.

Objectives

  1. Understand the benefit of a conical connection.
  2. Relate the lack of micromovement and microgap to minimized bone loss around the implant.
  3. Realize basic concepts as applied for a blueprint for success.
  4. Understand the latest literature in immediate implant placement and provisionalization.

Presenter: Dr. Thomas Ding,
Prosthodontist, Dallas, Texas

“Integrating Implant Restorations into your Everyday Practice: Parameters for Success”

Having the Dental implant placed in the ideal position is the foundation for success in implant dentistry. A brief review of treatment planning principles and restorative techniques with cemented restorations will be covered. Various provisionalization techniques will be addressed to help add to current clinical methods. Aesthetic region provisionalization considerations and benefits will also be discussed. In addition, concepts of abutment selection in the aesthetic zone will be examined.

At the end of the program, participants will leave with an improved understanding of the following:

  1. Dental implant treatment planning concepts for the partially edentulous patient.
  2. Provisionalization concepts and techniques.
    Abutment selection.

Presenter: Aldo Leopardi, BDS, DDS, MS
Prosthodontist, Greenwood Village, Colorado

Treatment of Complications and Prosthetic Challenges in Implant Dentistry

As with any treatment modality, complications are invariably encountered. In implant dentistry, these can be divided into two groups: surgical and restorative. The two, however, are often inter-related. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the most common complications encountered in implant dentistry, and the restorative and/or surgical solutions to correct and/or improve the treatment outcome.

Upon completion of the program, participants should be able to:

  1. Have an improved understanding of the role implant position plays with restorative complications.
  2. Treatment plan effectively to minimize the incidence of future complications.
  3. Have an understanding of the various restorative solutions available to address the most common implant position related complications.
