She desired a solution that would provide her with an open palate and rigid/stable prosthesis. Treatment involved bone grafting of the upper jaw to allow for implant therapy; 6 months healing; placement of 8 root-form dental implants utilizing a surgical guide; 6 months additional healing (osseointegration). Construction and delivery (additional 4 months) of the definitive, aesthetic and functional porcelain fused metal fixed implant restoration (retrievable, screw-retained).
Case Study by Dr. Aldo Leopardi, Prosthodontist, Replacement of missing upper lateral incisors. Patient presented with congenitally missing upper lateral incisors and teeth misalignment. Orthodontic therapy was performed to reposition the upper and lower teeth into more ideal locations, and also provide space between existing teeth/roots for implant tooth replacement therapy in the upper missing lateral incisor sites. Implants were placed and then restored with functional and aesthetic restorations.

Patient presented with a recently constructed unsatisfactory upper complete denture from a discount dental provider. Esthetics was unsatisfactory and wearing functioning with the denture proved impossible. Treatment was performed to construct and deliver a revised, functional and aesthetic complete denture. Comfort, mastication and patient self-esteem were returned.
Dr. Leopardi received his undergraduate dental degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, in 1984. He enjoyed private practice as a general dentist in Adelaide, Australia, for several years prior to receiving his specialist training and masters degree in combined fixed, removable and implant Prosthodontics, at the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, in 1993.
