Day One:

  1. Introduction, course outline.
  2. Treatment planning introduction:
    1. Patient expectations.
    2. Medical History.
  3. Three-unit fixed partial denture/bridge verses a single implant crown: literature review.
  4. 3-D Implant position: prosthodontically driven treatment planning.
    1. Ideal placement criteria.
    2. Prosthetic complications introduction.

10:15 AM BREAK (15 minutes)

  1. Biomechanics:
    1. General overview.
    2. Short implants (6-8 mm): indications and contraindications.
    3. Single molar sites: 2 narrow implants verses one wide diameter implant?
    4. Splinting to natural teeth?
    5. Cantilevers?
    6. Number of implants.
  2. Implant site development.

12:00 to 12:45 PM LUNCH BREAK (45 minutes)

  1. Abutment Selection:
    1. General Overview – Titanium and Zirconium stock, pre-contoured components, custom.
    2. Atlantis CAD CAM overview.
    3. Astra Abutments.

2:15 PM BREAK (15 minutes)

  1. Hands on Fixed Session:
    1. Abutments.
    2. Impression techniques: closed and open tray impressions.
  2. Increasing case acceptance: Astra support material.

5:00 PM End of day One Course Content

6 to 7:30 PM Reception: Appetizers and drinks

Day Two:

7:30 AM to 8:00 AM Continental Breakfast

  1. Cement verses Screw Retained Restorations:
    1. Cement on restorations:
      1. i.     Anterior and posterior zones.
      2. ii.     Clinical procedures.
      3. iii.     Cementation techniques.
    2. Atlantis CAD-CAM abutments: discussion and demonstration.
    3. Screw retained restorations:
      1. i.     Single units and multiple units.
      2. ii.     Adjacent implants: single units verses splinting.

10:15 AM BREAK (15 minutes)

  1. Occlusion concepts and clinical procedures in Implant Dentistry.
  2. Immediate Implant Placement:
    1. Criteria and complications.
    2. Provisionalization techniques.
    3. Anterior zone surgical techniques.

12:00 to 12:45 PM LUNCH (45 minutes)

  1. Complications:
    1. Prosthetic and surgical.
    2. Literature review.
  2. Facilitate computer tomography treatment planning software and surgical guide fabrication: overview and case presentations.
  3. Why Astra?
    1. System features.
    2. Biologic width.

2:35 PM BREAK (15 minutes)

  1. Overdenture Treatment Planning:
    1. Biomechanics: Maxilla verses Mandible.
    2. Stress-broken verses ridge design.
    3. Solitary anchor systems verses bar overdenture.
    4. Literature review.
  2. Hands-on:
    1. Zest Locator system.
    2. Ball abutment
    3. Uni (bar overdenture and fixed) abutment system.

  1. Solitary Anchor Systems Intra-Oral pick-up techniques:
    1. Zest Locator system.
    2. Ball abutments.
  2. Bar Overdentures:
    1. Clinical procedures:
      1. i.     Maxillary Stress-broken design.
      2. ii.     Maxillary Rigid design cases.
      3. iii.     Mandibular Bar Stress-broken design.
    2. Transmucosal abutments and impression techniques.
  3. Fixed-Detachable:
    1. Maxillary arch.
    2. Mandibular arch.
    3. Acrylic and porcelain fused to metal designs.

10:45 AM BREAK (15 minutes)

  1. Open forum.
