Who is Barry Shapiro?

Barry spent the first half of his career working within the walls of psychiatric treatment facilities and the second half of his career working within the walls of Corporate America, Europe, India and Asia. As a result, Barry understands how to work with his clients to improve both their health and their effectiveness.

Most recently, Barry was awarded the PDI Triple Crown Chairman’s Award for his achievements in facilitation excellence and business development.  Barry is currently the Managing Director of Training and Entertainment for the Shapiro Consulting Group.  In his Training role, he designs and facilitates leadership sessions for healthcare industry professionals to inspire employees to work at higher levels of performance.  In his Entertainment role, he writes and performs spirited parody songs to promote the strategic messages of an organization.  Experienced in Improv Comedy and storytelling, Barry is a sought after motivational and keynote speaker. He is also the author of the new book Casting Call in the Theatre of Corporate Americathe role of the extraordinary group facilitator” which offers innovative ways to immediately improve group sessions.

His clients describe him as warm and personable, with a steady stream of infectious enthusiasm.  They cite immediate improvements in performance and health after working with him. He accomplishes this in three ways; first, through leadership development sessions, second, through individual targeted coaching and third, through public speaking. In any event, he always places the audience at the center of attention.

Barry is deemed an expert to deeply understand an organization’s unique culture.  Barry approaches problems from a systems perspective. That is, one part of an organization affects the other. Therefore, to create lasting change, Shapiro Consulting Group interventions consider the impact and implications to all people and processes within the larger entity.

Barry holds a Master’s degree in Counseling, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is a member of the American Society of Training and Development. Barry’s vision is to demystify the concept and practice of leadership and make it accessible to healthcare managers around the globe, so they can improve the world in which we live and work.
